About Matthews/Mint Hill/Indian Trail
Matthews
The city of Matthews is between Charlotte and Monroe. Keeping pace with development in the area, Matthews's city limits now encompass 13 square miles. There are hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, recreational facilities and a hospital. In 1996, the National Register of Historic Places listed 10 downtown buildings in Matthews. Known as Matthews Commercial District, they comprise a small, but remarkably intact, collection of structures dating from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Matthews even has the headquarters of a Fortune 500 company, Family Dollar Stores.
Mint Hill
Incorporated March 11, 1971 with a population of 2,284, the town has enjoyed a steady growth to its current population of approximately 22,000 persons.
Within the town are many churches and excellent schools. Also, there are recreational facilities including private and public golf courses and country clubs. Primarily a residential community, the business district has shown intensified development in recent years.
The combination of churches, schools, recreational facilities, open space and community spirit make Mint Hill an ideal place to live and work.
Indian Trail
Located in the southern portion of the Piedmont region of North Carolina, Indian Trail is a rapidly growing suburb approximately 10 miles southeast of Charlotte in Union County. Indian Trail is located in the northwestern portion of Union County, which is among the 10 fastest growing counties in the United States. It is bordered by seven other municipalities, in addition to unincorporated portions of Union County. Its proximity to Charlotte and the regional transportation network it enjoys should continue to generate growth and development within its boundaries.
